While you were out...

"We called, you were out. We have taken your parcel back to the depot".. Now I am very annoyed at this since I never left the house and the postie didn't even ring the bell. Grr...

So this morning I drive the 15 mins to the post office depot to collect my parcel. Stand in queue, take parcel, sign for it, head home.

When I get home there is a card through the door - "We called, you were out. We have taken your parcel back to the depot".. Argh!!!

Bastards.

Don't you just love that?! Postman Pat would have never acted that way!
It's usually the FedEx guy that does it to me.

Sooo, annoying. A web-company tried several times to send me an iPod I'd ordered but couldn't because my post-code didn't exist according to them. So why do I get so much junk mail. Charlie

Just on the other side of the coin for a moment, I have a mate who is currently slumming it as a parcel delivery driver and he has been sending me the occasional email of his 'exploits'.

The following use of the 'while you were out' I found to be quite amusing:

"Last week I had Safeways on Canvey. Nobody answered at goods in which was to be expected. To drive from goods in to the front of the shop is about 1/3 mile at Safeways on Canvey. So I go into shop and find nobody at Customer Help desk. Find women stacking shelves who is obviously going too and from goods area.
"'I cant sign for that, go see him'.
    "I go and see him.
"'Take it to customer service desk mate'.
"'There's nobody there mate. I ain't got time for being messed about, I'll bring it back next'
I just walked out and left the 'sorry we called and you were out card' up on the noticeboard where they advertise local jobs....... Took parcel back the following Monday and they were far more helpful - perhaps the message get through at last."

I've found that the posties will not actually bring any parcels with them anymore, at all, ever. They remve them from their run and automatically gove you a card. I know this because I went to meet the postie at the door one day and he handed 2 "you were out" cards.

howsabout the card through the door followed by, "sorry - we've sent the parcel back to the usa because the driver said you no longer lived there"?

why pop the card through the door in the first place, then?

    unbelievable if it wasn't true!
