Shiny new toy
It's my birthday soon. So I was allowed an early birthday pressie. I've wanted one of these ever since I went on holiday and almost half the people on the airplane had one... they looked kinda cool.
One of the things I was keen to do was to try and get some of my DVD's to play on it. So this is Serenity, squished down to 450kb to fit on a memory stick... courtesy of these guys
Pro Evo football is very good.. but I still suck at driving games.. I just cant do a complete lap in Toca without smashing up my car....

The only games that I have for mine are those retro compilations from the 80's. Have you tried browsing the web with it yet? That can be okay if it's your only way online, but not for long stretches at a time.

They do look cool but I hate the whole proprietary-ness of it, like having to buy films on UMD, or having to use memory sticks when I've got loads of SD cards. I'm looking forward to see what devices come up for the new M$ UMPC stuff

Oh! Oh! I've got one. If you're getting games definitely go Lumines, Wipeout Pure, and Daxter. Only the very best. You can get wallpapers and such too.
Oh....and stay away from Grand Theft Auto please?

It's a very nice bit of kit but there is a serious lack of support games wise. I bought one from the US and mainly used it to watch ripped dvd's on the train when I was commuting.
The load times on many games is terrible and all that seems to be released are cut down version of PS2 games. At the moment Sony seems to be more focused on the PS3 than it does on the PSP, though there are rumours of GPS and VOIP add-ons coming.
I think the Nintendo DS has the better range of games and is way more fun even if it isn't the powerhouse that the PSP is.
Now that I no longer commute my PSP is just gathering dust and the other day I part exchanged Wipeout and Smash Tennis for GRAW on the Xbox 360.
In fact I think mine might be going on ebay soon.
Oh and Freiya, Serenity was the mbest film of last year. It's brilliant.

Emily - yeah that retro games thing looks interesting. May look at that.
Freiya - haven't watched Serenity properly yet, but will do soon
Natalie - it came with Lumines, and am quite hooked already :-)

Trick is to leave driving games for the PC. Unless you have a decent wheel, Toca can be very frustrating! Speaking from bitter online experience
