Rules

What is it with some people that they find it so hard to actually read rules for things like Flickr groups?

An easy example is the Angels flickr group. It says quite clearly, no headless photos yet the number of times I have to remove photos of people's shoes, arses or worse is annoying.

Likewise a group I set up a while back called World Outside Your Window. The idea was simple - get up from your PC and take a photograph of what you see from your house/office. Yet it still gets loads of general ''standing in a field taking landscape shots''.

Should this annoy me? Probably not. But it's the rules that make the group. There are hundreds of groups for Landscape shots. I wanted to make something different - a snapshot of what each of us can see from home/work/hotels etc.

The rules therefore define the group, and try and make it a little different to the others.

I don't mind the variations on a theme - there are some lovely shots from airplanes etc. But some people just see the general title of the group and dump their image into that along with 50 other landscape groups.

I even changed the name of the group the other day to World Through My Window to try and make it more obvious.

In a similar vein the Top 20 Tranny Pics group should be renamed ''The 'On average 18, maybe less if someone goes slap happy with their moderator powers' Tranny Pics''. Set up as an interesting social experiment into tranny vanity - I think the group's progress shows that Tranny's just can't be trusted ;) I can't remember the last time it had 20 pics in it. A fortnight ago someone deleted 4 pics for no reason..

With everyone having admin rights its turning into a tranny Lord of the Flies.. I guess Laydee of the Flies? Like Big Brother only with more oddballs. I know I shouldn't keep visiting, but I can't help but pop in to see what's happened next.

Groups should serve a purpose. And maybe fill a different niche to what has gone before. Take the tranny groups. TrannyFlickr was the grandma of all tranny groups. I set up Angel Flickr to cater for Angels members to show their pics. There are now a whole plethora of identical tranny groups, all run by the same people it seems. And then someone decides to go away and set up another general tranny group.

Do we need so many identical groups?? You just get a whole sense of deja vue from the same people posting the same photos to the same groups. As I have said before, maybe there are a few niches yet to be explored. And maybe they should stay unexplored for now.

Am I the only one who reads the rules before I post to a group? It only takes a few minutes just to check if my photo really fits with the group criteria.

And if you have any great photos taken from your home/office/car/hotel window then please go post them to my group.

Oh, I quite agree. I came across a brilliant example last night. I was looking for a group dedicated to ascii art and found this one: (¯`•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸¸.-►ÅSKi! - ÂRTWORK5_(¯`•.¸ . Out of the 467 pictures, 410 are the snapshots of a Japanese woman and her family and friends!! And, incredibly, of the other 57 pictures not one is ascii art. Just what is the point?

    To paraphrase:
"Rules? Where we're going we don't need rules."

Hey, I've just had a great idea for a new tranny group. The rules will be that you can only post photos to this group that will not appear in any others. No photoshop, no hijacking of photos of GGs, and it will be self administered. I'm thinking of calling it "Doomed to Failure."

Do you want to join, Jo? Gowangowangowangowan.

So glad I'm not the only one totally confused by the zillion identical trannie groups run by the same people with the same photos in them.

I know trannies are supposed to be self obsessed, but self obsessed AND pointless?

I know what you mean about rules but sometimes groups do evolve in a certain direction - I started a group called Trans-cription Fashion thieves which is meant to be more about about going for a particular 'look' rather than general Tranny pics - it has diverged slightly from the original intention but so far there hasn't been anything posted that breaks the general theme - but then apart from DeeDee no one seems to post to it (hint hint)
