Transpocalypse
So this weekend was Transpocalypse 2. A bunch of girls from the local Tranniesphere hit the sleepy city of Liverpool. Becky had fired up here kitten herding equipment again and did a brilliant job of getting a sizeable group together.
I travelled up on the Friday to meet up with Valerie who was flying over that evening. Her flight was delayed by snow in Helsinki and she got into Liverpool a little later than planned. We had a very quick bite to eat, got made up as quick as we could and went off to scout out some of the local Liverpool clubs. We hit Superstar Boudoir briefly and then Navy Bar.
Both clubs had a very ''straight'' feel. We were the only trannies in either place, or so it seemed. (Apart from the girl in drag on the door of the Superstar Boudoir). The local taxi drivers waiting at the doors of the club all welcomed us with ''Evening Gents'' which was nice of them. Feckers.
Funniest thing was when we were in the (sizeable) queue for the ladies when this girl turned round to myself and Val an in loud, broad scouse asked '''Scuse me, but are yous both fellas?'' Then she started to tell other people around her - "hey, there's fellas in the ladies" It was when she remembered she was in a gay bar, and we pointed out we weren't really dressed for the gents (Although that didn't stop Val later on using the urinals for the hell of it!). Also at that point two of the male bar staff came in to fix a leaking sink and they told her not to worry about it.
Made me chuckle anyway.
Got to bed about 3am... then up at the ungodly hour of 7.30 to feed the parking meter outside the hotel. Annoyingly the meter was broken so I had to put a note on my dashboard declaring my intention to pay - and for good measure took a photo of the broken machine and my five pound coins. I then went back to bed for another hour or so. When I went down later it was working again, and I didn't have a parking ticket, which was a result.
Saturday was a little low key. Greasy breakfast.. wander around the shops.. lunchtime kip on the bed and then meeting Becky and Jane for a quick late lunch.
Back to the hotel to get ready and then head out for the main event. A few drinks in the bar, a chinese meal and then hit a few clubs.
Was really nice to see everyone. Yet again I didn't do the best job of mingling so I apologise to those of you I didn't get the chance to really have a chat to.
The chinese was very nice - although there was a sense that they were moving people to the other rooms and creating a kind of tranny isolation zone in the room we were in.
The clubs we went to had the same problem as the night before - they just seemed incredibly straight and not very gay at all. Again we were pretty much the only trannies in the building.
All in all was a great weekend. Huge thanks to Becky for organising it all, and thanks to everyone who turned up . Photos will be appearing on the Transpocalypse Flickr Group soon.

... Just to say it was a complete pleasure to meet Valerie and yourself! ... I noticed the same thing about the restaurant; I wondered, if I went through to the other room, I'd see about 12 diners to a table and 4 to a seat ... and the clubs did seem to be too straight, but still, you never know till you go, right?
Oh, and I got the same treatment in the Ladies' as well, at G-Bar!

Was lovely to meet you and Beth as well.
Next time we need to co-opt a few more local trannies to show us where the non-straight gay bars now are.

Now I think back, the waiter who let us into the Chinese Restaurant did have his jaw on the floor. I thought he was trying to work out whether the partners were trannies too.
Lovely to meet everyone. Now, when do you next have a window in your diaries?

"..the non-straight gay bars.."
That just about sums it up. I can't say that I was bothered about it, or that I received any negative attention. Vanessa did say that there were a few puzzled glances our way, as we walked through the bus station, on the way home though.
