All in the mime

So today we hear of the death of mime artist Marcel Marceau, and on hearing the news I had several thoughts, so please indulge me as I get them off my chest.

Will he be buried in an invisible glass box?

Will the pallbearers struggle to lift the coffin for 5 minutes, pretending it weighs several tonnes? And when they then walk out of the church will they pretend to be struggling against a strong headwind?

And will there be a minutes noise as a mark of respect?

I'd have to say I was quite sad to hear of the passing of Mr Marceau. Back in 2003, that artist did a tour of Australia (which is where I live), and I went along to one of his shows. While I found some of his more ambitious routines (eg "Creation of the World") a bit difficult to follow at times, a bunch of skits he did as his famous alter-ego, Bip, were much easier to understand and also proved very funny. Afterwards, I found myself hoping I'd get a chance to see him again sometime, but sadly it was not to be. Still, I'm glad I did get to see him that one time. Ironically, when I heard he was coming out, I was most surprised, having long assumed he'd been dead for years!

Another thing that made the death of Marcel Marceau so sad for me was the fact that it followed hot on the heels, pretty much, of the demise of that lovable fat bastard Pavarotti. Admittedly, in his case, I'd never seen any of his performances, and can't say I'd ever planned to, but it was always nice to know I had the option of changing that situation, should I ever be walloped over the back of the head with a sock stuffed with billiard balls, say, and suffer irreparable brain damage as a result. Plus, I suppose, there was the fact that, as a metalhead, I was always waiting for the inevitable collaboration between the famed tenor and some suitable metal outfit: Gorgoroth, say, or maybe Cradle of Filth (actually, I could see the latter one working).
