A little help please

I can't defend myself against posts like this on Mara's flickr stream because she is blocking me, so I can't post comments or stand up for myself.

If you are unblocked, and feel like standing up to her then please can you comment in my defence. Most of you know the backstory.

I have never attacked her romany culture, nor have I ever made offensive comments Jews. But mara persists in claiming persecution.

It amazes me still how many people are so easily taken in by lies and accusations.

I feel very badly for for you. It is a vicious,unwarranted and personal attack. If it happened to me, I would be extremely hurt, and enraged.
I know it won't be what you want to consider while the hurt is so clearly prersent, but it may be a better response to ignore her. The easiest way to stop a fire is to starve it of fuel. Obviously Mara has a need to engage you in her manipulations and attention seeking on a personal level. She has already demonstrated that she is not open to reason or dialogue. Ignoring her frustrates her need for this personal attention.
Anyone who has read your blog, knows she is not presenting any "truth" about you in such malicious statements. A lack of response from you will make the one sidedness of her verbal attack more easily apparent, much sooner.

There appear to be no particular channels in place to deal with it directly through the Flickr administration, though.

I've already blocked her. I think most sane people will.

I'm sorry that your going through this at all.

I know I should ignore it. But being accused of anti-semitism really hurts me.

I have reported the image to Flickr in the hope that they do see it as slander.

it's nice to have some comments to address the balance slightly in my favour though, rather than letting her statements go uncorrected.

Oh dear, she obviously isn't amused at the comments she has been getting as the photo has been removed from public consumption.

Let her keep her little fantasy world. The rest of us will deal with the real one.

Just ignoring trolls and bullies never works. They don't go away, only the good contributors/forum members/good people in general go away, not the bad ones. You're right to stand up for yourself, and I'm glad Flickr moderators had the good sense to do their job.

The photo in question appears to have been deleted. Maybe this "Mara" character recognized the idiocy of their invective?

Personally: don't take it seriously. Cheap and easy insults are ten a penny when the going is good. You can generally get more for the same penny, right now. (Meaning: ignore the idiot. They don't have anything better to do.)

Trolls survive on recognition: starve them of that, and they eventually go away. (It might take awhile, that's the only problem!) Give them any sort of recognition: they're like a pig in muck.

Don't worry about the twit. He/she/whatever will eventually go pick on some other unfortunate target.

PS If it helps any, and this is not intended as a criticism - in anyway, shape or form - if you do call attention to fake shots (also known as "calling attention to when someone lies"), you really had better develop a thick skin. There's nothing quite like an exposed liar!

They will pronounce you the worst sort of human possible. And then some. You'll be compared to not just Hitler, but Stalin, Pol Pot and Dick Cheney. You will be accused of such heinous crimes of maybe "not being transgendered", after all. You'll have the idiots comparing you with their therapists, mothers and parole officers, even.

But let that not deter you! I like your exposé's! And I suspect many others do, too. Your efforts are to be applauded! You help give transgender people a good name. Or at least go some way to alleviating the bad, and predictable, name such fools as wotsername (Who? Fay wave... She's so unimportant!) provides.

Okay. I've finished now. :-)

That person is a real idiot. Not to mention being a charlatan.

I'm quite astounded by the connection between Jews and Romany's: there isn't one. As in: Romany's aren't Jewish. Maybe someone in that person's past - they're claiming a Grandmother - provides a link. But it's a bit of a stretch to claim that Romany's are Jews.

Consider the words of that person to be what they are: useless, cheap insults. What a jerk!

Mysterious! The latest hate banner has disappeared!

I posted a straight forward reply to it last night stating you had done o such thing, and that Mara should read what you had written before comenting. I think I suggested that if she didn't want people linking her images, she should make them "friends only". Guess what arrived in my Fickr Mail today?

"I do not consider you worthy of discussion, you are an active participant of the racist activities on the website of hate, you are a very cruel and vindictive man...........My personal view of you is that you are not a tranny, but very ugly in feature and spirit, you attack a image that contains a memorial to my Grandmother that survived the holocaust and lost to the gas chambers of Aushwitz 103 members of her family including her husband, children.....you are despicable, not worthy of debate"

And she blocked me, which is a shame. I wanted to let her know that both my Grandfathers fought against Nazi oppression in World War Two. And my Great Grandfather, on my father's side, married a Romani woman despite the prejudice it incurred.

Oh, the anguish! Oh, the agony! Oh, the (chance at) martyrdom! Oh, the sheer idiocy.

I can't help but notice that this Mara character isn't exactly a martyr. Even though he insists on invoking cheap and inane insults.

I'm not sure if I should continue giggling at the ridiculousness of Mara, or simply go all-out with a belly-laugh. It's a tough choice.

After my comment on her first post, I blocked Mara, so I haven't gotten any email. (I feel kind of Left out. :-( )

Mara has apparently returned the favor, since I can no longer make comments. I'm guessing I got the better part of this trade.

Hi Jo, I've deliberately not read the comments of other commenters (is that a real word?) because I don't want to be influenced by others. Mind you, I have been known to swim against the tide of opinion. Nevertheless, here goes.

No, I won't stand up for you on Mara's blog, because she has been fed enough fodder.

I will ignore her, I have read some of what she has written and I'm clear in my own mind about the sort of person she is, which I will keep to myself.

But I would just say you don't need defending. You are fair and open minded. You exercise far more restraint than I, or many others, would be capable of and anyone that has read your blog or seen how you moderate online groups would have no doubt of that.

As for rascism or similiar prejudices the notion that you would subscribe to those sort of views is just laughable.

Please can everyone just ignore her, please.

Whats interesting is that there is a new Mara Macgregor flickr account today, same old photos. The old account is still there.
